Living Arrangements Your Way

Individualised Living Options (ILO)

Individualised Living Options (ILO) under the NDIS is designed to support you in living independently in the home environment that best suits your needs and preferences. Unlike group homes or standard accommodation services, ILO focuses on helping you decide where and how you want to live, providing flexible supports that adapt as your needs change. Funded under the Core Supports category, ILO offers a range of living arrangements, from living alone to sharing with a friend or family, ensuring you have the autonomy and support to live life on your terms.

What exactly is ILO?

ILO is a flexible NDIS support that helps you live independently in your chosen environment. It’s not about the physical home itself but the support you receive to live how and where you want.

Who is eligible for ILO?

ILO is available to NDIS participants over 18 who want to explore and set up an independent living arrangement. It’s especially suited for those moving out of family homes, group homes, or seeking a more tailored living situation.

What types of living arrangements can ILO support?

ILO can support various arrangements, including living alone, with a host, with friends, or with other NDIS participants. It’s all about finding what works best for you.

How is ILO funded under the NDIS?

ILO is funded through the Core Supports category and is typically implemented in two stages: Exploration and Design, followed by the Support Model. The funding covers both primary and supplementary supports, depending on your needs.

What is the difference between ILO and Supported Independent Living (SIL)?

Unlike SIL, which is usually for group living arrangements, ILO offers more flexibility and is designed for a broader range of living situations, giving you more control over your living environment and support.
